Covid-19 Guidelines -February 18, 2022

We are operating in the Covid-19 Winter Plan Level 1 as of midnight, February 18, 2022.

In the Red phase there is NO service gathering and will be streaming only.

To operate in the Covid-19 Winter Plan Level 1 recovery phase where indoor gatherings in controlled venues are permitted with social distancing. The following guidelines have been established for Works of Faith Assembly:

General

  • If you have fever, new onset or increased cough or shortness of breath, please stay home. This also applies to anyone who has travelled outside the province for non-essential purposes within the last 14 days.
  • The sanctuary person limit is not capped in Level 1 but is limited to 50% in the Orange phase (and Winter Plan Level 2) and can only accommodate as many as can fulfill social distancing requirements.  Any additional individuals will be directed to the hall as a separate gathering place which will be accessed through its own entrance from the parking lot.
  • Someone will be designated at the main entrance and hall entrance for purposes of providing direction to those entering for seating purposes.
  • A mandatory mask order is in effect for all indoor and some outdoor public spaces and that includes churches.  Therefore, face coverings properly worn are required at ALL times while inside the building  (and outside if social distancing is not possible in orange phase or Covid-19 Winter Plan all levels).  They are needed to be worn when going in and out of the sanctuary and during the service itself while seated or standing.
  • The nursery, which is reserved for family members with children, must also observe social distancing which will mean a limit on how many can be in the room at once, unless they are in the same household.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at both entrances and should be used when entering or exiting the building.

Seating

Seating in the main auditorium will be provided under the following guidelines:

  • Alternate pews will be used for seating.  Pews not available for seating are roped off.  This means 6 pews can be occupied on the left side and 5 pews on the right.  To maximize the use of space and comply with social distancing rules, both the rear and front seats will need to be used.
  • Pews will be filled as people arrive (so come prepared to sit where available).  No seats will be reserved in advance except for those required for audio/video purposes.
    • In yellow (and Level 1) phase, persons can sit together with members of their family/friends bubble (regular social group). Under orange phase or Covid-19 Winter Plan Level 2, households (persons living under the same roof or in their Steady 10) only can sit together without social distancing.  Otherwise, social distancing while seating is required.
    •  In the hall, seats will be adjusted according to social distancing requirements with household members seated together.

Washrooms

  •  All 3 washrooms will be in use for the foreseeable future and will be single occupancy only (unless a parent is going in with their child).  Each washroom has a privacy lock on the door.
  • No congregating in front of washrooms is permitted.  Social distancing while waiting must be observed. The new washroom will be reserved for men and women using the hall.  If hall is not used, the washroom will be available for sanctuary members.  The other two washrooms will continue to be used as a men’s and women’s only washroom.
  • No members occupying the sanctuary are to use the new washroom and no members in the hall are to use the existing men’s and women’s washrooms.  We must keep those groups separate.
  • Washrooms will be cleaned on an hourly basis.

Service

  • At all times while seated, standing or moving about, properly worn masks are required. Face shields are an NOT acceptable substitute for a mask.
  • Instrument players participating in the service must practice social distancing.  It will likely be necessary to take turns on different services to accommodate this as some instruments are too close together for all to play at the same time.  The piano and organ will be placed such that they can always be used. All instrument players must wear masks.
  • The only exemptions to wearing a mask are children under 2 and the person(s) behind the pulpit while singing, leading in singing, praying or speaking.  During this period of time while the mask is not being worn, social distancing of 4 meters (12 feet is required). In the Orange phase and Covid-19 Winter Plan Level 2, no congregational singing is permitted.  In the Covid-19 Winter Plan Level 2 only a soloist can sing behind platform or at the piano.
  • As the pulpit is the only area with appropriate spacing for non-mask use, it will be the area designated for special singing.  Only individuals (Covid-19 Winter Plan Level 2) or couples (other phases such as Orange) should participate in special singing behind the pulpit while the mandatory mask order is in effect.  Special singing by the piano should not occur while the mandatory mask order for compliance reasons, except if the player only is singing.
  • Offerings will not be taken with plates.  There will be a box in the foyer for this purpose.
  • No physical contact is permitted in or outside the building, during or after service (i.e. no shaking of hands or embracing)
  • When going out or in of the sanctuary for any purpose, observe social distancing.
  • When service is dismissed, pews should be emptied starting from the rear.   This does not mean you have to leave immediately, but for those that do, this process should be followed.  Do not linger in the foyer and observe social distancing when in the parking lot.
